Liam's story began at our ‘big sister’ hotel Calcot back in 2010 as an apprentice where he soon became a role model for many in the brigade. Liam really started to shine when he left Calcot for the opening of The Painswick in 2016 as Chef De Partie and came into his own when the Head Chef moved on, leaving Liam to step up and lead the kitchen until our current Head Chef, Jamie McCallum came on board.  Liam who is a naturally calm and friendly personality in the kitchen continues to be Jamie's right hand man and is a well respected and vital member of the Painswick kitchen team... who knows where the next chapter will take him!

Spa superstar Charlie came straight from college to do her training at Calcot Spa and was excited to be working within such a popular and professional spa. Charlie knew her training alongside the fabulous spa team would start her career in the beauty industry on the best “well pedicured” footing!  Charlie has been able to enjoy varying roles within the spa to gain all round knowledge of how the spa works. Calcot Spa supported Charlie’s learning for level 2 and 3 in Beauty Therapy with additional learning and training time alongside her one day at IBHA – “I built my confidence working in such a professional yet friendly environment and cannot wait to continue my career in beauty with The Calcot Collection”

Our James has certainly got around a bit during his time at The Calcot Collection!  Today he's the Front of House Manager at Calcot & Spa and has proved that once you develop a love for hospitality the options are endless! James began as an apprentice at Calcot fresh from school after finishing a BTEC qualification. He had become inspired to give hotel work a try following a coursework assignment – signing up as an apprentice gave James the opportunity to try his hand in all the varying departments within the hotel and spa opening him up to new experiences and skills which helped him decide which area he particularly enjoyed and wanted to explore further. “The experience as a whole really helped me as a person, within a few months my confidence had grown massively. It was definitely the foot in the door for me and I would encourage anyone finishing school and looking to get a job to give it a go as it’s a great start”.
